FAQ

What is the best way to create my own Instagram wall?

Gimme Some Style wrote a wonderful step-by-step guide along with some helpful tips (like how to keep them straight).  While there, be sure to also try one of Ali's recipes, they are simple to make and absolutely delicious!

How much of the photo will be under the frame at the edges?

About 1/4 inch on each side will be covered by the frame or mat.  Unfortunately this is required so the glass and picture will stay in place.

It is an industry standard and mostly not noticeable.

If you need the entire photo or other works to show in the window, we recommend shrinking the photo a bit or adding a black border before print.

Can you tell me how much of a border I should allow for framing?  I'm figuring how to crop the photo for printing, and don't know if I should allow 1/8 of an inch, or 1/4 of an inch on the sides?

We would recommend a border anywhere between 1/8 and 1/4 inch on each side.  We have found 1/8 inch borders with a slightly overlap of the picture into the frame works well for us.

To be exact, the window is 3 and 9/16 inches. A border of exactly 1/4 inches might leave a hair of an edge around the picture. Hence we recommend 1/8 inch just to be safe.  If you need to use exactly 1/4 inch, a black border will make the hair edge much less noticeable.

Help, the back is stuck!  What is the best way to open the back cover?

Sometimes the back is too snug to pull out. The best way is instead of pulling, try PUSHING the front glass on the LOCK side of the window. Check out this handy video.

Where are these adorable frames made?

They are designed in California and made in China.  By focusing on a very small number of basic styles, we are able to ensure consistent and high quality at a reasonable price.
